Cabin Life

log cabin great room picturing cabin life

People choose log homes for many reasons. Cabin life is a combination of living in a rustic home and a simple country life where people can relax and enjoy life, with less stress. In a way, it helps us connect with our inner selves and with our roots.

Vacation Cabin Life

When we think of cabin life, we picture nostalgic scenes of simple, country living with friendly neighbors and good times together.

Unfortunately life is not so simple anymore.  Computers and technology, including wide screen TVs have taken the place of quiet times, chatting with visitors on the front porch.

But, all is not lost.  People who build log and timber homes and those who acquire vacation homes at the lake or in the mountains, know how to keep life simple.

At least sometimes.  Somehow they can forget the work week rat race and settle down to a simpler pace when at the cottage or camp.

And so log cabin life is not beyond the rest of us.  If some can capture the relaxing enjoyment of yester year, so can we!  Learning to relax and enjoy life is not easy for some of us.

But, the good news is that we can learn to escape the rat race and relax with friends and family.

Capturing Cabin Life Permanently

You may be saying that it’s nice for some people to be able to get away for weekends and vacations.  But what about the rest of us?

Well, the good news is that we can learn to relax in place.  What do I mean by that?

People who love log homes and timber frame homes are already halfway there.  Wood homes take us back to simpler times.  And people who love them also appreciate simpler things and country living.

Log cabin life is not just about a house.  It’s a way of thinking and living.  It’s appreciation for nature, a love of gardening, enjoying good food and having fun with friends and family.  And it’s a feeling of being safe and secure in your own home.

Retire to a Log Cabin Life

Do you plant to retire to your dream log cabin or timber frame home?  Many people struggle through years of workplace unhappiness, longing for the time when they will finally be retired.

Planning your retirement home can be fun and it can help make the work years pass more quickly.  You will have a goal for retirement and a lot to look forward to.

Country Stress Relief Now

On the other hand, you might not want to wait until retirement to build and move into your dream wood home.

Workplace stress is on the rise and costing employers a lot of money.  But, equally important, workplace stress affects employees, every day of the week, and every hour of the work day!

In recent years, quite a few companies have cut back on their work force.  That leaves a lot of people wondering if they will have a job in the months to come.

If you are uncertain about whether your job is secure, it causes a lot of stress both in the workplace and at home.

Prolonged chronic stress causes burnout and it will eventually hurt your health and well-being.  Serious stress related illnesses can develop over time.

As an occupational therapist, I learned that we all need a balance in our lives of work, rest, play, and sleep. Most of us are neglecting at least one of these important areas!

So how do you achieve balance or a sense of calmness in your life?  For some people, moving to their dream cabin in the country NOW, is the answer.

When you get out of the city or the suburbs, even though you may have a longer commute, you will find stress relief and a more relaxing lifestyle at home.

As you can see, everyone has a different motive for moving to their dream home and for log cabin life in the country.

But, no matter why you decide to live in a log or timber home, I think you will find it to be very satisfying and worth any sacrifices that you make to get one!
